Welsummer

Our welsummers are famous for their beautiful speckled eggs! They are calm and docile and enjoy foraging. They are awesome mama hens when they go broody too! They tend to mind their own business when out, but that doesn't stop them from being the best foragers at our farm! Egg production varies from 160–250 eggs per year. Though we do breed our welsummers for the thick splotchy spotted eggs, please be mindful that no chicken lays the same exact egg. In addition to the thick splotchy spotted eggs, some of our welsummer hens lay gorgeous ombre eggs. Egg colors and size of speckles will vary.

Silverudd Blues

Formerly known as Isbar.

Great foragers, calm and cold hardy that will produce 180-250 eggs a year that vary in shades of green. Some eggs also have small brown/purple speckles against a green background. Some even lay eggs with a heavy bloom! They are awesome layers and after owning them for so many years, we have yet to have one go broody. These rare and gorgeous chickens come in 3 different colors, blue, black and splash.

Our Silverudds have been tested and are 100% homozygous (certified OO).

Legbars (opal and cream)

There are several reasons why we love this breed so much. One of them being that they are autosexable at hatch. They have the most gorgeous pastel blue egg color gene and they're so docile! They are the best layers we have had on the farm, taking short winter breaks and then continuing to lay 5-6 light blue eggs per week. Our cream legbars are full of personality and very silly little characters! They love to follow us around the yard (when its their day to forage)!

For 2024-2025 our legbars are splits, opal over cream. We do this to improve our lines. Therefore, if you get hatching eggs from us during this time, some will hatch opal legbars and some will hatch cream legbars.

Black Copper Marans

We have worked really hard to get the right Marans here at The Pickled Coop. Our Black Copper Marans are a mix of bloodlines and they lay the most gorgeous chocolate to dark chocolate colored eggs! Some speckled, some matte, and some with heavy blooms, we love them all! Winter and summer hardy, this breed is a must have for your flock!

Olive Eggers

Nothing is better than walking to gather eggs and having beautiful shades of olive waiting to join your egg basket. Our olive eggers come in different colors as chicks and will also feather in an array of colors. 2024-2025 we will offer F1 and Backcrosses.
